The Exhibition Overview_ Metaphors

At Online Fine Arts Museum, we are proud to present the very first exhibition of our 2021Open Call for Artists: "Metaphors" by Argentinian artist Carlos Ortega.
"Metaphors" is a collection of seven drawings which show a mix of reality and dreams —or rather nightmares— through the use of irony and and symbolic figures. In his drawings, Ortega chooses to show his own view of human life as a perilous, lonely and painful existance. As such, social and political issues engulf and transform people's lives in a day-to-day suffering and struggle for survival.
"The drawings are symbolic, and these symbols are repeated thoughout my body of work. It has been so for several years. The motifs include dogs, bones, skulls, cartoonish storm clouds, men and women's faces frozen in a silent scream asking for help to survive, and little children begging to be loved. Thus, dreams and also social, political and cultural issues are present in my work" —Carlos Ortega.
In "Metaphors", dreams and reality ebb and flow in a convoluted imagery that shows the darkest side of contemporary human life.
